NLV police target drivers who don't look up

Drivers may face $ 72 or $ 192 tickets this weekend in North Las Vegas if caught not wearing their safety belts or without children properly restrained, said police.

North Las Vegas police are participating in the national "click it or Ticket" campaign with saturation patrols from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Officials will patrol areas of heavy traffic and intersections, with a history of crashes.

Authorities said the goal is to make the streets safer with a zero tolerance-application for bad driving and seat belt. Safety belt citation carries a $ 72 fine, and ticket for not having a child properly restrained is $ 192, police said.

Nevada law requires children younger than 6 years old or less than 60 pounds restrained in a car or booster seat.
